Experimental Conditions
Info
This documentation explains how to create experimental conditions. If you are looking for experimental condition layouts in Reference Data, please refer to Plate Layouts.
Definition¶
Experimental conditions are types of information that you can add to your run and use in normalizations, automatic analysis, and visualizations. For each well of each plate, you can add a value linked to this experimental condition.
For example, if you want to define the lineage, you can create the experimental condition Lineage and assign a lineage value to each well.
In this documentation, "Experimental Condition" refers to the information type (in our example, Lineage). The experimental condition values refer to the lineage value assigned to each well.
Access the Experimental Condition Feature¶
A button is accessible on almost every step of your run to access the Experimental Condition page, located in the header.

If you try to access Experimental Conditions before the Plate Mapping step, you will only be able to create new experimental conditions and not add values to each well. After this step, you can also add, modify, or delete experimental condition values.
Create a New Experimental Condition¶
On the Experimental Conditions page, you can find the Manage Experimental Conditions button at the top left.

This will open another page where you can add an experimental condition and see the list of existing ones for your run.
Here, you can specify the name of your experimental condition. Then, you can choose a type among:
- Text
- Number
- Vocabulary
This defines the type of data allowed for experimental condition values. Finally, you can add a description.
On the right side of the page, you can find the list of experimental conditions available for this run. A button is available for each if you want to delete it, and it will also delete all the experimental condition values related. Experimental conditions used in normalizations and/or cutoffs cannot be deleted.
A Delete all button is also available to delete all your experimental conditions and experimental condition values.
Add Experimental Condition Values¶
Once you have created your experimental conditions, you can add values to each well of your plates.
To learn more about the different ways to add values, please refer to the Execution Mode documentation.
