Tutorial - Empty Vials / Barcode From a File

Introduction

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create 11 empty vials with specific barcodes by uploading a file.

Prerequisites

Required permissions

Sample Processing role is required to access this workflow.

Workflow

Job Creation

Create a new job and select the Empty Container Creation workflow.

Requesting

• Choose Vial as Request Type.
• Select File as the Request From.
• Set Target Container Barcode to Use External Barcode.
• Select 1 Dram Vial as the Target Container Type.
• Set Inventory as the Target Container Usage.
• Click Next.

Processing

• Upload the file named Empty_Vial_creation.txt.
• Select Tabulation as the file delimiter.
• Click Upload File.

After uploading the file, map the columns from the file to the database fields:

• Barcode: Container_Name
• External Barcode: External_Barcode
• Click Next.

Storing

The Storing step allows you to assign a location to the items involved in the job. Eleven empty vials with specific barcodes (predefined in the file) have been automatically generated.

• Click Assign Location to Selected.
• Select Paris and click Select to confirm your choice.
• Click Next.

Pipe & Close

The Pipe & Close step provides a summary page where you can review the job and optionally pipe it to another workflow. For this tutorial, click the Close & Quit button to finish the job.
