Tutorial - Container Update Attributes

Introduction

In this tutorial, you will update the volume of five 384-well plates using the Container - Update Attributes workflow.

Prerequisites

Required permissions and setup

Sample Processing role is required to access this workflow.

Required system configuration:

  • Container Usage: Inventory

These should exist by default in the Sample application.

Items

Containers and Locations created from Discngine Sample’s automation will be used:

  • 5 plates 384 (150 uL – 10 mM). Layout with columns 1 and 24 as empty.
  • “Paris” location.

Workflow

Job Creation

Create a new job and select the Container - Update Attributes workflow.

Requesting

  • Set Source Type as Plate
  • Specify Request from Text
  • Copy/paste the plate barcodes in the text area: PTEST006:PTEST007:PTEST008:PTEST009:PTEST010
  • Click Add IDs to confirm. The plates are listed in the added requests.
  • Click Next

Task Requesting

You will change the usage and volume of these containers. Choose the task to apply to the selected plates:

  • Set Target Usage to Sample.
  • Set Target Volume to 100 µl.

Leave the other attributes blank; their values will remain unchanged in the containers.

Sourcing

The Sourcing page will confirm that the requested operations are compatible with the source plates (see the Sourced column).

  • Click Next.

Storing

The Storing step allows you to assign a location to the items involved in the job.

  • By default, the system keeps the current plate locations. Click Next.

A message box asks if you want to increment the Thawing Cycle of the racks. Click No to continue.

Pipe & Close

The Pipe & Close step provides a summary page where you can review the job and optionally pipe it to another workflow. For this tutorial, click Close & Quit to finish the job.
